You are about to embark on an exciting and life altering experience. One that will enrich your daily life by creating an environment tailored to the way you live. We look forward to a great working relationship and a successful outcome.
Here are a few tips to help you begin the design process. Start by thinking about what you want, what you need and what you can afford. Then think about what is most important to your project. Ultimately, what are you trying to accomplish? If you have trouble conceptualizing your project, don’t be afraid to look at a few design magazines for ideas; our favorites are Elle Décor, House Beautiful and Architectural Digest. Clip out images of the rooms and furnishings that appeal to you, it is not important at this time to understand why they appeal to you or how they will all fit together; we can discuss that later. If you spend some time up front refining your design goals, you can make our time together more productive.
During the Concept Phase of the design process, we interview you to determine your needs and goals, and we establish a preliminary schedule and budget. Next, we visit the site to measure the interior spaces so that we can begin the planning process. We may also inventory existing furnishings and items that you wish to use in the project.
Plans and sketches are prepared to illustrate the design concepts. Color palettes and samples of fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, floor coverings, window treatments and lighting are presented to you to help you visualize each design concept. We usually begin by presenting you with three different design schemes. This is when your original design goals begin to evolve. We work together to form and refine a design scheme.
